The goal of The Arts Facet is to produce and support programs to enrich the quality of life of our youth and communities through educational and engaging art experiences while Transforming Communities, Fulfilling Our Purpose. Our programming includes arts integration within our chapters and partnerships with like-minded organizations, sowing the seed of creativity deeper in our community.

The signature program of The Arts facet is Classics Through the Ages. It focuses on increasing the interest, knowledge and participation of youth of African descent in the classical arts. From dance, to music to visual arts, this exciting initiative seeks to afford exemplary student artists opportunities to hone their talents and skills, and earn recognition and support for their educational and career pursuits. An example of this is our ongoing partnership with Mrs. Jenkins Dance Academy in Columbia, SC where we have sponsored students to receive trainings.

This initiative gives talented artistic students the ability to sharpen their skills and support their educational and career pursuits. We have started with dance with the intention to expand to all of the classics.

Our artist Partner Mrs. Jenkins Dance Academy located in Columbia SC selected 2 students between the ages 10-12. These young ladies Tameya Neal and Bailee Shiver have been dancing since they were 2 and 3 years old and are currently company members at Mrs. Jenkins Dance Academy. The plan was for the students to go to a summer intensive of their choice with master classes for national choreographers, but the Pandemic derailed all scheduled summer in person training. We have had to modify our initial plans as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, but we are still finding unique ways to support our artist. Both were able to take online Dance classes this summer, And the were both able to attend Columbia City Jazz Ballet intensive in person August 15 and 16th 2020.

The scholarships will be renewable, and we plan to follow, mentor and encourage the students throughout their training.
